InFRE began in 1997 because of the joint commitment, vision and efforts of the National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators (NAGDCA), the Texas Tech Center for Financial Responsibility (CFR), the National Pension Education Association (NPEA), and John D. Davenport, to increase the retirement preparedness of the American worker.
- NAGDCA is a professional organization made up of deferred compensation, 457 plan/defined contribution plan administrators from 50 states and over 100 local government entities, as well as private industry plan providers.
- The Texas Tech University Center for Financial Responsibility, recognized as a national leader in personal financial planning graduates.
- NPEA educates public defined benefit retirement system professionals and encourages the ongoing exchange of information, ideas, goals and objectives of retirement planning and communication with members
- John David Davenport, chairman of InFRE, is chairman of the Davenport Educational Foundation, and founder of the Public Employees Benefit Savings Corporation (PEBSCO)
Together, the members of NAGDCA and the NPEA manage and administer more than 150 retirement plans for over 10 million American workers.
