The
International Foundation for Retirement Education Nears Completion of
Practice Analysis Study with PES
The
International Foundation for Retirement Education (InFRE) is pleased to
announce the updating of the comprehensive practice analysis for the
Certified Retirement Counselor®
(CRC®) with Professional Examination Service (PES) scheduled
for completion in the Spring of 2008.
InFRE is a leader in the education and certification of retirement
professionals, and sponsors the Certified Retirement Counselor®
(CRC®) and
Certified Retirement Administrator®
(CRAsm)
programs.
Commenting
on the practice analysis, Kevin Seibert, CFP®,
CRC®, CEBS,
InFRE Managing Director, said, “InFRE is committed to maintaining
the highest standards in its certification program. This practice analysis
will help to ensure the continued validity and defensibility of our
Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC) examination, and will be invaluable
to us as we seek accreditation through the National Commission for
Certifying Agencies (NCCA). In
addition, PES’s familiarity with the NCCA standards, its adherence to
those standards in its own work, and its knowledge of the NCCA
accreditation process will be of great benefit to InFRE.”
Leon Smith,
PES President and CEO added, “InFRE is a dynamic organization serving
the needs of a rapidly evolving profession.
A practice analysis is a critical step in documenting the knowledge
and skills required for professional practice, and the results of this
study will ensure that InFRE’s certification program keeps pace with the
profession.”
InFRE
is working with a Practice Analysis Task Force to draft a detailed
description of the tasks performed and knowledge required by retirement
counselors. The task force
will consist of content experts selected to ensure a broad representation
of key professional and demographic variables.
The resulting delineation of practice will be validated through a
web-based survey of 1,000 retirement counselors.
According to Seibert, “The findings of the practice analysis will
be used to update the test specifications of the CRC to ensure that the
certification examination continues to reflect current best practice.”
