October 21-27,
2007 is the first congressionally-endorsed “National Save for
Retirement Week”, formally calling on local and national public,
private and federal employers to promote the benefits of saving for
retirement and encouraging their employees to take full advantage of their
employer-sponsored plans.
A suite of free
tools is available from the National Association of Government Defined
Contribution Administrators, Inc. NAGDCA), a sponsoring
organization of InFRE, at http://www.nagdca.org/retirementWeek/.
Materials such as brochures, educational reference flyers and posters,
PowerPoint presentation with script, article for employee newsletter and
other tools have been designed for access by retirement plan sponsors
and plan administrators to assist with promoting and providing National
Save for Retirement education. InFRE participated in the development
and distribution of the materials.
The objective
of "National Save for Retirement Week" is to:
- Help
employees in all types of employer-sponsored retirement plans
be more aware of the need to save now for the future
- Promote
the benefits of getting started saving for retirement early
- Create
a culture that promotes and values saving in the workplace and the
community.
