InFRE staff to make presentations at
2007 Retirement Industry Conference in Atlanta this Apri
l

InFRE Director of Education and Research, Betty Meredith, CFA®, CFP®, CRC®, and Diane Savage, CFP®, CRC®, InFRE Director of Professional Education, will each deliver presentations at this year’s Retirement Industry Conference in Atlanta, GA, April 18-20.

Framing the Issues: Retirement Income Questions Individuals Need to Answer” will be the topic discussed by Meredith and Anna M. Rappaport, FSA, MAAA, Anna Rappaport Consulting.  They will present findings from research performed for InFRE on retirement readiness by Matt W. Greenwald & Associates in a session April 19 at the Westin Peachtree Plaza.

Personal retirement planning requires activity at different stages of life – the accumulation period during the working years, decisions in the pre-retirement period, retirement itself, and the periods shortly after and long after retirement. Meredith and the Rappaport representatives will link the stages of retirement planning and readiness to the lifecycle and identify the questions to ask at each stage. Attendees will learn which questions have solid answers, which ones are still being debated, and instances where there is not enough information to decide.

Savage will speak April 18 on “Changing Behavior or Changing Attitudes:  Which Comes First?” in a special session.

Accumulating money during the working years is a critical component of retirement preparedness.  Why is it some participants get "the message" to varying degrees, others get it too late; and some never get it at all?  Share ideas and examine the relationship of motivation and alignment as well as some approaches to framing the messages in the accumulation phase so that more participants will not only hear the message of saving, but turn those lessons into action.

Hosted by LIMRA International, LOMA, and Society of Actuaries, the 2007 Retirement Industry Conference provides access to a wide variety of industry experts and practitioners all in one place!  For more information and registration information, click here.
